Preventative Maintenance:
Remove the system from automatic operation.
Check if the tank vents and overflow piping are unobstructed.
Check for level of gasoline in main tank.
Test the quality of oil and change if necessary. Change oil filter if oil is changed.
Check the level of antifreeze fluid in the radiator. Antifreeze is changed once in 5 years.
Rod out heat exchanger if necessary.
Clean exterior of radiator. Inspect duct work and clean louvers. Check the operation of louver motors and controls.
Check for excessive back pressure. Check exhaust system hangers and supports.
Tighten wiring connections on all controls.
Service circuit breakers every two years. Check transfer switch main contacts.
Change governor oil.
Test injector pumps and injectors for flow rate, pressure and/or spray pattern.
Check and clean commuter and slip rings. Inspect bearings and replace if necessary. Grease bearings.
Check condition of exciter and clean as required.
Check condition of voltage regulator and clean as required.
Measure and record resistance readings of windings with insulation.
Restore System to automatic operation condition.
Clean surrounding area, record results and findings and report any needed repairs or operational adjustments.
Safety Warnings or Special Precautions:
Have approved type fire extinguishers readily available.
Allow no open flame or smoking in area.
Use safety type fuel cans only.
Obtain and review manufacturer's instructions. Follow manufacturer’s instructions or procedures if different to these instructions or procedures.
Tools & Materials Required:
Standard and Phillips head screw drivers-various sizes; Pliers-vise grip (2), slipjoint, needlenose, diagonal; cutting pliers, side cutters; Ball peen hammer; Hack saw and spare blades; 3/8' drive socket set and ratchet; Small set of Allen wrenches; Assorted center punches, drift punches, and steel chisel; 12' measuring tape; Crescent wrenches 4" to 8"; Open and box end wrenches ¼" to ¾"; File; Pipe wrenches to 14"; Small level and square; Pocket knife; Flashlights; Grease guns and oilers; Wire brush; Extension cord and inspection lights; Various cleaning tools - brushes, scrapers, etc; Emery cloth.
Oil and Oil Filters
Safety goggles.
Gloves.
